“Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music – the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.”
– Henry Miller
I’m sure you’ve heard it before – the world is your oyster – and have quickly brushed it off thinking “maybe one day” but today my oyster consists of going to work, picking up the kids from school and getting dinner on the table. And yes this is your oyster. To fully enjoy life requires being present, living in the moment, and the best way to achieve this is by paying attention to everything around you. When we take the time to appreciate the little things that are actually unfolding right before our eyes we can forget about and remove ourselves from daydreams of could haves, should haves and would haves. These fantasy daydreams we sometimes get caught up in serve no purpose toward achieving happiness and peace in life and can actually do the exact opposite. We then lose a sense of gratitude and miss out on all the fun life has to offer. Today I challenge you to actually stop, just for one minute take a breath and really take your time to smell the roses.
